E-102 was destroyed at the end of Sonic Adventure. Tails Jr. found him and worked hard on rebuilding him to his former glory. The reason behind this was to give Gamma as a Marriage Anniversery gift to his mother, Amy. Gamma now hangs around with her to help her shop and to protect her from dangers unknown.
